The Falcons concluded the regular season on a four-game winning streak with wins against the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. During that 4-0 stretch, Atlanta defeated its opponents by an average of 19.7 points while averaging 38.5 points per game. Matt Ryan separated himself among the other MVP candidates as his level of play reached new heights. Carrying his team to an 11-5 record, an NFC South Division championship, and a No. 2-seed in the playoffs, the stage of the playoffs would be a task bigger than claiming the MVP title. With Ryan’s postseason record at 1-4 as a starter, the biggest question remained: Can this regular season MVP frontrunner carry his team to wins in the playoffs? With momentum on his side and a healthy squad, a loss – especially in the first round – would define his career to be mediocre.
