Looking to get out of the loss column, the Falcons returned home to face the preseason favorites to win the NFC Arizona Cardinals. The 4-6-1 Arizona Cardinals were looking to climb into the playoff picture, however, as the 7-4 Falcons had their sight set on elevating its play following a letdown in Philly the previous week.
It was Taylor Gabriel who saved the day for Atlanta. Yes, Taylor Gabriel. Gabriel, a 5-foot-8, 165-pound undrafted free agent from Abilene Christian University, had just four receptions in the game but totaled 75 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals defense, thought to be one of the best in the league, gave up 38 points to the Falcons. Though their secondary took Julio Jones out of the game as he finished with 35 yards on four catches, seven other receivers (including Gabriel) caught a pass from Matt Ryan. Ryan finished 26-for-34, 269 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
